NACE 2007 Conference Program Announced
The 25th annual International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) has announced that the 2007 Conference Program will deliver a comprehensive compilation of sessions, speakers and topics – addressing the needs of today’s collision repair professional. NACE 2007 will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 3, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The educational conference will run from Oct. 31-Nov. 3 (Wednesday-Saturday) and the exposition will take place Nov. 1-3 (Thursday-Saturday).

OBITUARY: Former Indy 500 Driver Len Sutton, 81
INDIANAPOLIS – Len Sutton, one of open-wheel racing’s most respected drivers and the runner-up in the 1962 Indianapolis 500, passed away on Dec. 4 at the age of 81. A lifelong resident of Portland, OR, Sutton had been battling ill health for some time but had been participating in vintage-car race meets until very recently.

Distributor Set for DCX’s Smart Cars in United States: UnitedAuto to Offer Mini Models
UnitedAuto Group Inc., a Bloomfield Hills, MI, company led by Roger Penske, will be the exclusive U.S. distributor for DaimlerChrysler AG’s Smart mini-cars, the two companies announced Wednesday in downtown Detroit. The Smart ForTwo, a tiny two-seater, should arrive in the United States by early 2008. Penske, chairman of UnitedAuto, said he’ll select 30 to 50 dealers to sell the vehicles.
Lord Corp. and CARSTAR Automotive Canada Become Vendor Partners
Lord Corp., maker of Fusor Automotive Repair Adhesives, has signed a new vendor partnership agreement with CARSTAR Automotive Canada. Founded in Hamilton, Ontario, CARSTAR Automotive Canada has grown from eight to more than 100 locations in just 10 years. With more than 300 locations across North America, CARSTAR repairs approximately 1 in 20 vehicles in Canada – 6,000 vehicles per month. While many CARSTAR stores already use Fusor products, these same adhesives as well as extensive training will now be available to CARSTAR franchisees as part of the preferred vendor program.
Winners of Inaugural CCC Information Services Outstanding Student Technician Scholarships Announced
CCC Information Services has announced the winners of its inaugural CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarships. Totaling $25,000, the CCC scholarships were created to assist collision repair students.
