The automotive aftermarket is big business, Northwood University President Keith Pretty commented during Thursday’s dedication of the Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies. “In fact, it’s very big business,” he said, adding the industry’s annual revenues are approaching $300 billion. “This is bigger than the gross national product of many nations around the globe.” And Northwood is an integral part of the equation to help keep the economic engine of the automotive aftermarket humming along, Pretty believes.

Ashland Inc. Reports First Quarter Income of 60 Cents Per Share from Continuing Operations

Ashland Inc. has announced preliminary income from continuing operations of $38 million, or 60 cents per share, for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2007, the first quarter of its fiscal year. This compares with income from continuing operations of $53 million, or 81 cents per share, in the same prior-year quarter. Among the factors contributing to the decline were a 21-percent increase in depreciation expense and a 6 percentage-point increase in the income tax rate.

Northwood University President Keith Pretty, J.D. has extended to the community an open invitation to the ground-breaking ceremony for The Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies. The groundbreaking ceremony for this 25,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art education center will take place at 11 a.m. on March 21, at the building site near the back parking lot behind the NADA Center.
