As Gary Ackerman approaches through a hallway at LKQ Star Auto Parts, there’s no confusing him with Redd Foxx, who played the role of Fred Sanford in the 1970s sitcom "Sanford and Son." And there’s certainly no confusing the multimillion-dollar automotive recycling business that Ackerman runs on Janesville’s south side with the junkyard Sanford and his son labored over in Los Angeles. Beck/Arnley Names Ben Worsham and Steven Sistrunk Product Specialists

Ben Worsham and Steven Sistrunk have been named product specialists for Beck/Arnley. They will report to Tom Fritsche, director of product management. As product specialists, Worsham and Sistrunk will be responsible for all product management efforts including introducing new products, determining target pricing, creating new product packaging, researching and developing new product applications and technical literature and working with data management personnel on maintaining catalog, interchange and pricing databases.

AFS 2006 Offers a View from Wall Street, BB&T Capital Markets on AFS 2006 Agenda

Cristello of BB&T Capital Markets will address a “View from Wall Street” during the 2006 Aftermarket Financial Symposium (AFS), which takes place Sept. 26-27 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. The presentation, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, will focus on the investment community’s view of the aftermarket, including how developing trends might impact different areas of the aftermarket (including such sectors as DIY, DIFM and collision repair) and how that might translate into potential investment opportunities. System Allows Consumers to Buy Salvage-Yard Auto Parts from New-Parts Dealers

Joseph “Joey” Woodfin IV seized an opportunity. He noticed how automotive salvage yards, such as his Woodfin Auto Parts business in Chesterfield County, Va., had been looking for ways to sell more used car parts to consumers. Also, national auto-parts retailers wanted to be able to offer different merchandise to keep shoppers coming back. Woodfin decided to merge the needs, creating a budding national business that links auto recyclers with car parts retailers. His new EverDrive LLC serves as a conduit for auto parts retailers to have access to a vast supply of used parts through a network of more than 200 auto recyclers across the country.

AADCO Automotive to Acquire Coreline Auto Parts Ltd.

AADCO Automotive Inc., a supplier of Like, Kind and Quality (LKQ) used auto parts, has signed an agreement to acquire Coreline Auto Parts Ltd. of Milton, Ontario. Founded in 1977, Coreline Auto Parts is the third largest automotive core and materials broker in Canada doing business from coast to coast. A privately held company with annual revenues of $1.5 million, Coreline will significantly expand the AADCO distribution network across Canada, according to AADCO CEO Charles Hodgkinson.

PERA Announces Schedule for 2004 Marketing and Technical Program

The Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) has announced the schedule for its 2004 Marketing and Technical Program, which is slated to take place April 1-3 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel, in Louisville, Ky.
