Asian Manufacturer Recalls Replacement Hoods for 2001-2003 Hyundai Elantras

Asian manufacturer Yih Sheng Auto Parts Ind. Co., Ltd., has issued a recall of its aftermarket replacement hoods for the Hyundai Elantra, model years 2001 – 2003, sold during 2004. All parts were sold under the Yih Sheng brand name, and are being recalled because of a possible faulty latch assembly.

FAIA Inducts Its Youngest President, Addresses Vehicle Right to Repair Issue at Annual Conference

The Florida Automotive Industry Association (FAIA) has inducted Eileen Sottile, director of government relations at Keystone Automotive, as president of the association for a term of one year. At age 37, Sottile is the youngest person ever to receive this title, and only the second woman to head the association in its 50 year history. Sottile was inducted at FAIA’s Golden Anniversary Celebration and Conference held in Orlando, Fla., in July.

The results of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) board of directors election are final. SEMA, has elected three newcomers and re-elected seven incumbents into office on its board of directors.

SEMA Awards Record Amount in Scholarships

As the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund celebrates its 20th year of giving, the association has announced it awarded students a record number of scholarships this year. Seventy-five students preparing for careers in the automotive industry received individual awards of up to $4,000, for a total of $110,000 in scholarships.

Superchips Opens New Facility in Florida

Superchips Inc., manufacturers of Max MicroTuners, has opened a new facility in Sanford, Fla. The new 30,000-square-foot building houses Superchips’ corporate offices, manufacturing, research and development facilities.
