Hella Sets Goals For Major Growth
Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. said this week it hopes to double its global sales of automotive lighting, electronics and aftermarket products to more than $7 billion in the next six years. The company also aims to significantly increase its American and Asian business in that time period. Hella has organized its global business into three divisions: lighting, electronics and aftermarket and special equipment, according to Jean-Francois Tarabbia, CEO of Hella’s Electronics Division.
VW, Siemens Sell Jointly Owned Company
Volkswagen and Siemens VDO Automotive have sold their jointly owned electronics systems offshoot Volkswagen Bordnetze GmbH to Japan’s Sumitomo Electric Industries, VW said Monday. Details of the price for Bordnetze, which supplies carmakers with parts, were not released.

Major Investment in Tripmaster Acquired by Control Instruments Group Limited
Control Instruments Group Limited of South Africa has purchased a majority share of Tripmaster Corp. Tripmaster, founded by Rockwell International in the 1970s, is a pioneer in electronic onboard recording technology for North American truck fleets. Control Instruments (CI) develops, manufacturers and distributes products and services for the automotive and transportation industries, including to the aftermarket and original equipment market. Control Instruments designs, manufactures and owns the intellectual property for the Fleet Manager range of onboard computers that have been sold worldwide under the Siemens VDO FM brand for nearly a decade.
Timken Receives Supplier Quality Award From Renault
Timken has been presented with a Supplier Quality Award by Renault, a leading European auto manufacturer. One of only three companies to receive the award, Timken was selected from among more than 600 Renault parts suppliers worldwide. The award acknowledges Timken’s excellent results in incoming quality and performance in customer satisfaction.
Siemens to Donate Nearly $3 Million to Hurricane Relief Efforts
Siemens CEO and President George Nolen presented a check for $2.8 million to Marty Evans, president and CEO of the American Red Cross, to aid hurricane victims in the South. Siemens employees from its 15 major operating companies in the U.S., including Siemens VDO, donated $1.4 million and the company matched those donations dollar-for-dollar.
Peugeot, Siemens Sign Partnership for Joint Parts Development
Peugeot SA said it has signed a partnership with Siemens AG’s VDO Automotive unit for the joint development of a wide range of motor, electronics and driver comfort technologies.

Record Numbers Attend AAIA Leadership Days; Board Officers Announced
The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) reported this week that a record number of people — 380 to be specific — converged upon Huntington Beach, Calif., last week to attend AAIA’s Spring Leadership Days. Volunteer board and committee members, VIP guests and professional staff participated in 28 group meetings and eight social events during the three-day program.
Federal-Mogul Names Michael Sobieski Vice President, Ignition and Wipers
Michael Sobieski has been appointed vice president, global ignition and wiper products group for Federal-Mogul Corp. His appointment is effective immediately. In this new role, Sobieski will be responsible for the global operations of Champion spark plugs and Anco wiper blades for the aftermarket, original equipment manufacturing and original equipment service.
