First-Ever East Coast Vehicle Show Slated for July

The first-ever New York Vehicle Show, known as the “V Show,” will debut July 20-23, bringing cool cars, hot rods, and an eye-popping array of wheels, tires and aftermarket parts from around the globe to the Jacob Javits Center. Denman Tire’s Wright to Retire

Long-time Denman Tire Corp. president and CEO Charles Wright has announced plans to retire. Wright, who joined the Leavittsburg, Ohio-based tiremaker in 1993, said he will remain with Denman until a replacement is found. Wright, who commuted to Denman’s headquarters weekly from his home near Nashville, Tenn., has been in the tire industry for 43 years. Prior to joining Denman, Wright was general manager of the now closed Pirelli-Armstrong Tire Co. plant in Nashville.

Nokian Tyres, Hankook and Bandag were the tire industry’s top performers in 2003 in terms of earnings as a percentage of sales, while Goodyear, Titan International, Bridgestone Americas Holding and Alliance Tire anchored the bottom of the list.

The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) has announced that participation in the third annual National Tire Safety Week has doubled this year, with more than 8,000 tire retail stores participating. As part of the campaign, tire retailers will distribute “Be Tire Smart” brochures produced by RMA.
