Magic Glass Joins Visteon GlassVantage Network

Indiana-based Magic Glass has signed an agreement with Visteon’s Aftermarket Operations, authorizing Magic Glass as a select retailer for Visteon custom auto glass products. Through the agreement, Magic Glass becomes part of a growing nationwide network that sells and installs NASCAR Performance Windshields by Visteon and other auto glass products. Magic Glass serves Indiana with 20 locations offering auto glass installation services.

Cooper Tire to Begin Race Tire Production in the U.S.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced today that it plans to begin production of racing tires at its Athens, Ga., manufacturing facility. The facility currently produces retread materials. The company said it will invest $11 million into the project during the next two years. Conversion to motorsports tires should begin immediately with developmental tire production beginning in early 2005.

NAPA Returns to NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series in 2005

NAPA Auto Parts has announced it will continue its sponsorship of the No. 15 Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL CUP season. Two-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip is piloting the NAPA Chevy in 2005. Waltrip carries the NAPA shield for the fifth consecutive year in NASCAR’s premier series.

Unser Brothers Plan to Build Racing Museum

Al Unser Sr. and his brother Bobby are bringing to fruition an idea they’ve been kicking around for too long: building a racing museum. Soon, the two brothers born into the legendary Unser racing family will open a museum in north-central Albuquerque, NM, dedicated to their beloved sport. The museum will feature cars, driver suits, trophies and memorabilia.

Al Unser, Jr. to Retire from Racing

One of open wheel racing’s most popular competitors announced his retirement this week. Al Unser Jr., made the announcement during a press conference at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the site of the two greatest triumphs of his 22-year driving career, victories in the 1992 and 1994 Indianapolis 500.

Kyle Petty to Deliver NACE 2004 Keynote Address

NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kyle Petty will deliver the 2004 keynote address on Nov. 4 at the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas. NACE also announced Richard Flint, Richard Flint Seminars, as the speaker for the event’s luncheon on Nov. 5, and Jim “The Rookie” Morris, a school teacher who pursued his dream to become a professional baseball player, as the keynote speaker for the general session on Nov. 6.
