PPG Acquires Coatings Resource Corporation

PPG Industries has acquired certain assets of Coatings Resource Corporation (CRC), located in Huntington Beach, CA. Terms were not disclosed. CRC produces paints, lacquers and varnishes for use on metal and wood industrial and consumer products, including audio-visual equipment, sporting goods and automotive interiors. It also produces injectable colorants, blowing agents, processing aids, ultraviolet (UV) stabilizers and anti-oxidants used on various types of plastics. CRC operates one manufacturing facility in Huntington Beach and employs approximately 30 people. The company has been in business for more than 30 years.

NASTF Board Establishes Collision Repair Committee

At its March 2007 meeting, the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) Board of Directors approved the formation of the NASTF Collision Repair Committee (CRC). The mission of the committee is to identify and report gaps regarding unique collision repair information, or information that is not already covered by the other committees. The official announcement of the new committee will occur at the upcoming NASTF meeting, which takes place at 1:30 pm on April 17 at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in downtown Detroit, MI. The co-chairs of the new committee are Bob Keith, Car Star Collision Centers, and Jerry Burns, Automotive Impressions.

Federal-Mogul Appoints Second Former Fiat Exec to Management Team

Jean Brunol has been appointed senior vice president, business and operations strategy and a member of the strategy board for Federal-Mogul Corp. His appointments are effective May 2. In this new role, Brunol will be responsible for corporate development of business and global growth strategies. Most recently Brunol was senior vice president, product and business strategy, international operations at Iveco – the commercial vehicle company of the Fiat Group. He is the second executive from Fiat Group to join Federal-Mogul in recent weeks. Last week, the company announced the appointment of Mario Leone, Fiat Group’s former chief information officer, to the position of senior vice president and chief information officer for Federal-Mogul.
