Advance Auto Parts to Open New Distribution Facility in Indiana, More than 600 Jobs to Be Created

Advance Auto Parts has announced plans to open a new distribution facility in Remington, IN. The new distribution center will serve Advance’s growing store base in the Midwest, and will play an integral role by providing capacity for future growth. The company expects that the facility will open in summer 2008, making it the ninth distribution center in the company’s logistics network. The company said it anticipates creating more than 600 new jobs to support the facility’s operations at full capacity.

For 10 straight years, Underhood Service, ImportCar and Brake & Front End magazines have recognized the advertisers that are the foremost communicators in the industry with their annual Readers’ Choice Award. Two ‘Rookie’ Teams Advance to Semi-Finals of Clevite’s Engine Builder Showdown

The 2006 Clevite Engine Builder Showdown preliminary rounds on May 2, 3 and 4 opened with a bang. The Showdown build record was once again broken and a mix of Showdown veterans and rookies advanced to the third round of competition. The competing engine builders assembled 357 cubic inch Ford engines — similar in design to those used by NASCAR’s Ford race teams. The first round of the Showdown, which was held May 2 and 3, served as a qualifying round. The eight fastest times advanced to round two — beginning the head-to-head competition.

Car Care Council Women’s Board to Hold Seventh Annual Women’s Board Reception During AAPEX

The Car Care Council Women’s Board will hold its seventh annual Car Care Council Women’s Board Reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in rooms 106 and 107 of the Sands Expo Center, during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. During the reception, the Women’s Board will present the first-ever Aftermarket Woman of the Year award, as well as recognizing winners of the Automotive Communications Awards and the Women’s Boards’ scholarship recipient.

APRA Announces Name Change for Volume Transmission Division

The Automotive Parts Rebuilders Association has renamed its Volume Transmission Division. The new name — the Volume Transmission Remanufacturing Group — was unveiled at a recent APRA board meeting in Long Island, NY. According to APRA Chairman Craig Leuck of Jasper Engines and Transmission in Jasper, Ind., the intent of the name change was to reach out to high volume transmission remanufacturers — those doing several hundred per month or more.
