Alcoa has formally opened its new automotive center in Farmington Hills, Mich. More than 300 design, engineering, sales and marketing specialists began moving into the new 86,000-square-foot office building earlier this year. The new facility joins Alcoa’s North American automotive businesses into a single location and consolidates Alcoa offices located in Southfield, Livonia and Allen Park, Mich.

EU Clears Magna International’s Purchase of DamilerChrysler’s New Venture Gear
The European Commission (EU) has given Canadian automotive parts manufacturer Magna International Inc. clearance to acquire New Venture Gear from DaimlerChrysler AG, according to a report from AFX News. New Venture Gear is a manufacturer of transfer cases, which ensure power is delivered to all four wheels on a vehicle. The business purchased earlier this year from the DaimlerChrysler Group for $435 million.
TIA Announces 2004 Tire Industry Hall of Fame Inductees
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced the names of those who will be inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame for 2004. Titan Tire Corp., a subsidiary of Titan International, has been awarded two multi-year requirements contracts by TACOM (Tank Automotive Command). The two contracts total an estimated value of $40 million and cover anticipated requirements for the next five years for tires primarily used on 2.5- and 5-ton military trucks used by the U.S. Army.

Titan International President and CEO Maurice Taylor Jr. announced this week that he intends to sell up to 40,000 shares of Titan International common stock owned by the Maurice and Michelle Taylor Foundation. The Foundation funds are primarily used to award college scholarships to children of Titan employees.
