Cummins and China’s Shaanxi Automobile Group Form Joint Venture
Cummins Inc. and China’s Shaanxi Automobile Group Company Ltd. today signed an agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture company, Xi’an Cummins Engine Company, to produce the Cummins ISM 11-liter heavy-duty engine in Xi’an, the capital city of western China’s Shaanxi Province.

Eaton Reports Second Quarter, Automotive Profits Up 3 Percent From Previous Year
Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced net income per share of $1.37 for the second quarter of 2005, an increase of 33 percent over net income per share of $1.03 in the second quarter of 2004. Sales in the quarter were a record $2.83 billion, 18 percent above the same period in 2004. Net income was $209 million compared to $161 million in 2004, an increase of 30 percent.

David F. Peace has been named president of Qualitor’s Pylon Wiper division. Peace joins Pylon from Jordan Industries where he served as CEO of Jordan Automotive Aftermarket, Inc. since 2002. Prior to Jordan, Peace served as vice president and general manager of three business groups at Visteon from 1997 to 2002, including Visteon’s Global Aftermarket Operations.

CARE Testifies Passage of Act Needed to Protect Small Businesses, Economy
The Coalition for Auto Repair Equality (CARE) called for passage of the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act, H.R. 2048, to provide fairness and free market competition for small businesses in the automotive aftermarket industry. The automotive aftermarket is a $200 billion a year industry with over 495,000 automotive aftermarket locations.
