WILMINGTON, N.C. – George Paziuk, founder of Disc Brake Continental (DBC), died in his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Monday, April 20, 2015. He was 78 years old.
Paziuk was born in Russia in 1936 and became a self-made Russian immigrant who proudly called the United States his home. He founded DBC in New York in 1973 and built it into one of the largest remanufacturers of Bendix brake pads in the country. DBC moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, in March of 1987 and soon after opened another manufacturing plant in Banning, California. DBC closed in 2000 when Paziuk retired.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Reed Paziuk; stepdaughter, Shelby Posey; and best friends, Hassan Ozbeck and Brett Schardt. Funeral services were held April 23. In lieu of flowers, Paziuk’s family suggests contributions in George’s memory may be made to the ASPCA or to the church charity of one’s choice.
