Winners Named In NPD Group’s Aftermarket Performance Awards

Awards were given to brands with the highest increase in U.S. market share, in four key areas over the past 12 months.

The NPD Group yesterday at AAPEX announced the recipients of its third-annual Automotive Aftermarket Performance Awards, which were shared with the recipients during AAPEX in Las Vegas. The awards were given to the brands with the highest increase in U.S. market share, in four key areas for the industry, over the past 12 months.

Winners within accessories and appearance, chemicals/additives/fluids, and maintenance and repair were identified using NPD’s Retail Tracking Service, which reports sales data collected from a panel of automotive specialty and mass-market retailers. NPD also recognized the progression of e-commerce in the automotive aftermarket throughout the pandemic, and the brand that captured the most online market share this year based on receipt-based Checkout information.

“The aftermarket continues to enjoy surprisingly strong demand and sales performance, and we are thrilled to acknowledge the leading companies that harnessed the industry’s unique and changing opportunities to grow the business,” said Steve Flavin, president, automotive practice, for NPD. “These winners, and the entire industry, deserve our congratulations for navigating the collection of challenges presented over the past year, and we wish them all continued success.”

NPD’s Checkout service offers robust data for tracking and improving performance across all channels plus buyer analytics to help businesses keep current customers and win new ones.  Over 150,000 actively engaged buyers, the largest omnichannel panel focused on general merchandise and foodservice, provide us with receipt-based information on their in-store and e-commerce purchases.  With comprehensive data from the same consumers over time, Checkout illuminates trends in behavior including migration to shopping online by category and consumer demographics. Buyer analytics deliver insight into most valuable customers, brand loyalty, brand leakage / lift, brand launches, and more.
