MIDLAND, MI The theme for Northwood’s 44th Annual International Auto Show the largest outdoor new car auto show will be “The Desire, The Drive, The Destination.” According to show organizers, this concept allows viewers to choose where they are going in life and how the automobile helps them get there.
The entire event is planned and executed solely by Northwood students. Tiffany Nabozny, chair of the Northwood University International Auto Show (NUIAS), said that more than 800 students will be participating in the show this year. The show takes place Sept. 28-30 on the campus of Northwood University. A Classic Car Show will also be held on both Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30.
New this year will be ‘celebrity’ appearances from the cast of the summer box office hit “Transformers.” NUIAS will be the first auto show to feature “Bumblebee,” “Autobot Jazz,” “Autobot Ratchet” and “Ironhide.” They will be showcased at the event along with more than 500 new domestic and imported cars, trucks, vans, experimental, specialty and recreational vehicles and viewed by more than 35,000 annual guests, along with a growing extensive aftermarket exhibit for aftermarket enthusiasts. The auto show is open to the public and admission and parking are free of charge.
Show hours are Friday, Sept. 28 from 1-6 pm, Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 am-6 pm, and Sunday, Sept. 30 from 10 am-5 pm. Exhibits will line the Mall Walk offering a variety of food, beverage and entertainment.
The show begins on Friday, Sept. 28 at 11 am at Griswold Lecture Hall with a VIP panel that consists of Dean Eisner, president, Manheim (keynote speaker); Don Reimondo, Affinia; Chip Perry, Autotrader.com; Jody DeVere, president, Askpatty.com; and Darryl Jackson, vice president of U.S. Sales, Chrysler. The panel will be presenting on the current and future happenings in the automotive industry and is also open to the public.
