National Automotive Talk Show Radio Program Celebrates 16 Years On-Air

BOSTON, M — Award-winning radio talk show host Bob Long and his automotive radio program, AutoWorld, are celebrating 16 years on air. Long’s name is no stranger to millions of radio listeners. He is a veteran of more than 23 years in the radio business and his passion for both radio and automobiles is evident.

“If anyone would have told me years ago that I would be living my dream today, I never would have believed them,” Long said. “I am not only humbled but extremely grateful to the automotive industry for their support and to my sponsors for theirs as well. It’s work getting a show ready each week but I can honestly say that it’s an incredible amount of fun.”

Long’s early career included several talk and sports-related programs. AutoWorld has been a national automotive talk show since 1992. Long served as national spokesperson for the Sears Diehard Security Battery from 2000-2002, making appearances in national print and on radio and television media tours. His opinions and commentary are well respected throughout the automotive and broadcasting industries. He is a consistent, annual winner of 14 International Automotive Media Awards (IAMA) including two silver and one gold in 2005.

AutoWorld is a live, three-hour talk show on The National Radio Network (NRN) and the Cable Radio Network (CRN) on Sundays from 5-8 pm EST. Long also hosts Motortrend Radio. Segments such as The Automotive News Reports are delivered live by Long and include up to the minute stories on new automotive products, automotive industry news including sales figures, stock market, legislative items and consumer recalls. The weekly Motorsports Report, called in by sports announcer Jeff Bressler, often brings the checkered flag winner to listeners straight from the last lap.

Automotive authorities such as Paul Eisenstein, noted auto journalist and publisher; Tom Dupont, president The Dupont Registry; Matt Stone, executive editor of Motor Trend and Motor Trend Classic; and John Davis, host of TV’s “Motor Week,” are often heard on the program. In addition, recent guests have included Baseball Hall Of Famer and car collector Reggie Jackson, rock and roll legend Billy F. Gibbons from ZZ Top; car designer, builder and TV Host Chip Foose; Rich Christenson, host of Speed TV’s popular "Pnks” and NBC Tonight show host and “car guy” Jay Leno.
