RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. CAWA has announced that Dan Askey, president of NAPA, will be the keynote speaker for the association’s 2013 Annual Dinner Meeting. The event will be held the Sunday prior to the kick off of the AAPEX and SEMA Shows during Industry Week, held the first week of November in Las Vegas.
Members and friends will hear Askey’s vision of the automotive aftermarket industry and how manufacturers, distributors and retailers must be poised to seize the opportunities that will present themselves in the future. Motorcar Parts of America has continued its sponsorship of this year’s event, and CAWA extends a special thanks to MPA CEO Selwyn Joffe for his support.
Askey has been involved in the automotive aftermarket since 1979, and his entire career has been with NAPA Auto Parts. During his career, he has held key positions in NAPA, including general manager of the Albuquerque Distribution Center; general manager of the Portland Distribution Center; president of Balkamp, Mountain Division; vice president of the Automotive Parts Group; and Western Group vice president. In 2007, Askey was promoted to senior vice president, sales, for the Automotive Parts Group, and in 2010, he was promoted to president of NAPA.
He has received many awards throughout his career, including the Automotive Hall of Fame Award for Young Leadership, the "Forty under Forty" Award (given to executives under 40 who have excelled in their profession) and Genuine Parts Co.’s Manager of the Year Award, which is the highest honor given by the company.
The CAWA Annual Dinner Meeting will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the event go to the CAWA Scholarship Fund.
