Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Inc., a Rochester, NY-based company, and Prime Automotive Parts Co., Inc., a Glendale, NY-based company, have announced that they have signed a definitive agreement for Hahn to acquire Prime. Both Hahn and Prime are warehouse distributors of aftermarket automotive parts. Prime’s President, Robert Scheer, will continue to manage and oversee Prime’s daily operations following the completion of the transaction.

Members of a union representing about 2,000 of Delphi Corp.’s hourly workers voted to ratify a new four-year contract with the auto parts supplier, the union said. Seventy-five percent of International Union of Electronic Workers-Communications Workers of America (IUE-CWA) members at local unions with Delphi employees voted in favor of the deal, the union announced late Saturday.

Akzo Nobel has announced that the I-CAR Education Foundation has selected Roland Taube, market manager for the Car Refinishes Canadian Market, vice-chair for the 2007/2008 Board of Trustees and Executive Committee. The company also announced that Tom Moreland, director of strategic accounts, has been selected as a member of the 2007/2008 I-CAR International Executive Committee. He will hold the position of member-at-large.

Global Accessories, a manufacturer of soft products and accessories for the automotive aftermarket, has announced the availability of WHI’s Nexpart Virtual Inventory to its customers. Virtual Inventory will make stock at Global Accessories’ Distribution Centers (DCs) accessible to customers using Nexpart eCommerce websites, creating online availability of parts that are out-of-stock at their customers’ location.

 

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) has announced its upcoming landmark event: AASA Vision Conference 2008, the association’s first-ever member-only conference slated for Thursday, Feb. 28-Saturday, March 1, 2008, at The Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, FL. “This new endeavor for AASA, which is the result of feedback from countless members who expressed their desire for a forum to discuss industry issues exclusively from the aftermarket supplier’s perspective, will focus on the important issues of the North American aftermarket supplier industry,” said Steve Handschuh, president and COO of AASA.

Denso Robotics has opened a new customer training center situated inside the company’s Denso Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. plant in Maryville, TN. The center, located approximately five miles from McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, is Denso Robotics’ third customer training center in the United States. The company also has centers in Long Beach, CA, and Pine Brook, NJ.

This fall, KYB is launching its annual “Feeling is Believing” promotion. Participating service providers will receive a certificate valid for $10 off future KYB purchases when they buy and install a set of two KYB shocks or struts between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31. Service providers participating in “Feeling is Believing” will also receive point-of-sale items to assist them in selling more shocks and struts.
