CHANTILLY, Va. — The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) posthumously recognized Past Chairman Mike Hill with its distinguished Honorary Member Award on Nov. 1 during the Opening Session of the 2009 International BIG R Show in Las Vegas. The award was accepted by his wife, Kathy Hill.
Hill was a long-time active member of APRA. He served as chairman of APRA in 2006, and also volunteered his time and expertise as a regional director and chairman of the Heavy Duty Brake Division. While serving as APRA Chairman, he was nominated and served as the Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG) chairman. As Chairman of HDRG, he pushed for the group to be a key part Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW), an involvement that continues to this day.
Hill was recognized as the Heavy Duty Remanufacturer of the Year during the inaugural year of HDAW. The award has since been renamed in his honor and is now called the Mike Hill Heavy Duty Remanufacturer of the Year Award.
Also during the Opening Session on Nov. 1, another APRA Past Chairman, Mike Droullard, was presented with the Honorary Member Award.
Droullard has been in the remanufacturing industry for more than four decades. He has served as an APRA regional director, and also director of both the Clutch and Brake Systems Divisions. As APRA Chairman in 2005, Mike was heavily involved in moving the APRA Headquarters to its location in Chantilly, Va.
