MAPA President Stepping Down at End of the Year

The Michigan Automotive Parts Association (MAPA) has announced that its President and CEO, Raymond Flower, has submitted his letter of resignation, effective Dec. 31.

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Automotive Parts Association (MAPA) has announced that its President and CEO, Raymond Flower, has submitted his letter of resignation, effective Dec. 31.

 

Flower commented, “It’s time. These past 15 years as MAPA’s president and CEO have been most gratifying for me personally, but there comes a time when life’s new experiences summon. For me that time is now.”

 

Flower joined the staff of MAPA in 1988 as executive assistant. In 1993, he was named president and CEO.

 

He added, “It has been an honor and privilege serving the good members of MAPA these past 21 years. I am grateful for having been afforded the opportunity to work with so many wonderful automotive aftermarket people, including the membership, all the dedicated volunteer members of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and current MAPA Executive Assistant, Debbie Cook."

 

MAPA’s Executive Committee, chaired by Greg Phillips of West Branch Automotive, has begun the process of finding and evaluating candidates for the position.

 

Flower said, “We have made significant progress over the years providing valuable member services and industry advocacy looking out for the interests of our members. I take particular pride in knowing MAPA’s annual “Industry Day” is one of the premier educational events in the aftermarket. During my remaining weeks I look forward to assisting the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors chart a successful future course for this association’s next 55 years.”

 

Founded in 1953, the Michigan Automotive Parts Association is a not-for-profit association of 430 auto parts stores, warehouse distributors, rebuilders, service repair facilities, aftermarket affiliate and associate members within Michigan’s automotive replacement parts industry. MAPA offers its membership a broad spectrum of services including industry representation, legislative advocacy, educational programs, state and federal compliance information, financial services, group insurance programs and industry specific business products.
