AUSTIN, TX — Activant Solutions Inc. has released its most recent update of its aftermarket electronic catalogs which includes a record number of new or updated manufacturer data files.
Activant, which recently introduced additional, mid-month eCatalog updates via the Internet, has implemented sophisticated data production technologies and expanded resources to provide aftermarket parts professionals with timely, complete and accurate parts data. The company’s September data production – comprising multiple line updates for 123 manufacturers – is nearly two times the number of files published in September 2003.
“We continue to make significant progress in the data publishing process. This is an important step in achieving the data immediacy we envision for the aftermarket,” said Steve Bieszczat, vice president of information services for Activant.
Activant’s eCatalogs — including PartExpert, ePartExpert, LaserCat, ShopCat and the Cover-to-Cover graphical eCatalog module — include detailed information on nearly five million parts from approximately 1,580 aftermarket manufacturers. Activant now accepts manufacturer data in virtually any format, including the new ACES industry standard.
“We’ve worked very hard to eliminate the formatting, quality and other issues that can slow the publishing process,” Bieszczat said. “We’re able to address the special needs of manufacturers, some of whom may not have their data available in electronic form or are late in getting the information to us.Our enhanced processes and additional resources allow us to offer the flexibility our customers need to deliver in a timely manner.”
Activant’s data production record is the latest in a series of achievements that are helping aftermarket supply chain partners compete more effectively against OE parts and service operations. Active Updates, the company’s new mid-month online ecatalog update service, is delivering new-parts information to the counter up to four weeks sooner than it typically is available via DVD-based media.
Activant also has added Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) decoding and look-up capability to its full line of ecatalogs allowing service writers and counterpeople to instantly access all of the correct parts information.
