MCHENRY, IL — Brake Parts Inc. has named aftermarket veteran Kent Stickley as its new vice president of marketing.
This announcement was made today by John Washbish, vice president Under Vehicle Group of Dana’s Automotive Aftermarket operation.
“Kent is uniquely qualified to serve in this position,” said Washbish. “He has worked the gamut in the aftermarket from sales and marketing to merchandising and operations and he has also worked for distributors as well as manufacturers. Kent’s tremendous personal and working relationships with all of our customers will also pay big dividends for Brake Parts Inc., especially as we continue to implement our customer relationship management strategies.”
Stickley, who has more than 25 years of automotive aftermarket experience, comes to Brake Parts Inc. from Prolong International where he has worked since 2002 as vice president of sales and director of sales for the Eastern region. At Prolong, he was responsible for generating sales and profits through wholesale and retail customers while helping re-position the brand with new products and new marketing and sales initiatives.
Prior to working at Prolong, Stickley was the vice president of sales and marketing for Midas International in Chicago from 1999 to 2002. For Midas, he directed wholesale parts sales to the 2,000 franchises and more than 100 warehouse distributors in the USA and Canada. He was also responsible for sales marketing and product development.
From 1997 to ’99, Stickley worked at Pep Boys as vice president of the Commercial Division. He helped launched Pep Boys startup commercial auto business and in his tenure at Pep Boys, sales grew from $33 million in 1997 to $294 by the time he left in 1999.
Stickley has also held senior marketing, sales and operations positions with Republic Automotive, Nationwise Auto Parts, Auto Source Inc., Chief Auto Parts and Maseey-Ferguson.
From 1978 to ’86, Stickley served as director of marketing and vice president of marketing for NAPA in Atlanta. He began his aftermarket career as a sales manager for Monroe in 1976.
