JohnDow Industries Acquires the Assets of Austin Engineering Inc.

Austin Engineering manufactures products that provide corrosion protection of underground petroleum piping systems.

BARBERTON, Ohio – In an ongoing effort to diversify its product offerings, JohnDow Industries (JDI) recently completed the asset purchase of Austin Engineering Inc., also based in Barberton, Ohio, where JDI is located.

Austin Engineering manufactures products that provide corrosion protection of underground petroleum piping systems. These innovative products save money, save time and minimize regulatory requirements, the company says.

Mark Pfleeger, JDI vice president of sales and new business development, stated, “We are truly excited about these most recent product acquisitions from Austin Engineering. We feel that their two products – the Flex Protectors and the Zip-Boot – can achieve tremendous sales increases under the JDI umbrella and will give immediate growth to the Fuel Chief and Crew Chief brands in the PEI market.”

The Zip-Boot offers a fast and economical way to isolate flexible connections without undergoing expensive, time-consuming piping changes or opening, retesting, or shutting down product lines. Many piping systems today contain these isolation requirements. Zip-Boot is sold in a “kit package,” providing the technician with everything needed to do the job correctly, JDI says.

The Flex Protectors products are used to isolate flexible connections and are produced in various sizes and configurations to cover most single-wall piping designs and consist of a highly flexible heat shrinkage sleeve.

Economy and fast installation make this the best value available for single-wall piping installation providing electrical isolation of flexible connectors and other metal connections replacing costly cathodic protection schemes, JDI says.
