John Hinesley of ArvinMeritor Named 2005-06 SkillsUSA President

John Hinesley, a long-time advocate of career and technical education and ArvinMeritor's Western Area Director-North American Field Operations for Commercial Vehicle Systems, has been named president of the national board of directors of SkillsUSA. He will preside over the 15-member SkillsUSA board of directors, for the non-profit corporation.

TROY, MI — John Hinesley, a long-time advocate of career and technical education and ArvinMeritor’s Western Area Director-North American Field Operations for Commercial Vehicle Systems, has been named president of the national board of directors of SkillsUSA.

He will preside over the 15-member SkillsUSA board of directors, for the non-profit corporation. SkillsUSA members support the development of a highly skilled workforce through public career and technical education. Through their involvement, member companies hope to attract the best and brightest recent graduates to join their staffs.

Because of his involvement since high school with SkillsUSA, then known as VICA, the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, Hinesley has come full circle in the organization. He now will be actively involved in promoting the benefits of career and technical education and its value to employers.

“John Hinesley has unselfishly served as a tireless supporter of technical education throughout his years at ArvinMeritor,” said Dennis Kline, vice president of sales, Commercial Vehicle Systems for ArvinMeritor. “His hand at the helm of SkillsUSA during the next year will help ensure that the technical needs of companies in our industry – and many others – are met with passion and commitment.”

Hinesley joined the company in 1982 and has served as district manager, training manager, manager of customer services, OEM account manager, and regional manager.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working to promote the nation’s skilled workforce. The organization helps students excel by teaching leadership skills that augment their career and technical skills training. The SkillsUSA program, since 1967, has assisted more than 8.8 million young people. The organization is supported by industry with little or no government funding. This year, SkillsUSA has more than 280,000 members in high schools and technical colleges around the United States.
