Gates Corp.’s PIC Gauge Belt Wear App Now Available for Android Smartphones

PIC Gauge was designed to enable anyone - from professional technicians to do-it-yourselfers - to quickly and accurately diagnose wear of automotive and heavy-duty K-section serpentine belts.

DENVER, Colo. – Gates Corp has introduced an Android version of its Parts Image Capture (PIC) Gauge Belt Wear App. Initially released for iPhone in June 2012, this is the first smartphone app to deliver accurate measurement and evaluation of serpentine belt wear, according to Gates.

PIC Gauge was designed to enable anyone – from professional technicians to do-it-yourselfers – to quickly and accurately diagnose wear of automotive and heavy-duty K-section serpentine belts.

“With PIC Gauge now being available for both iPhone and Android phones, the innovative app will increase the number of users conducting belt inspections to determine optimal engine accessory belt drive system performance,” said David Miller, Gates vice president of marketing.

PIC Gauge is simple to use. To detect belt material loss or wear, a user:

·  Takes a photo of industry-standard automotive or heavy-duty K-section serpentine belt with an iPhone or Android smartphone
·  Lets the app quickly analyze the photo with patent-pending software
·  Reads the results: Within Specifications (green), Wear Detected (yellow), or Replace Belt (red).

Gates demonstrated the new app at its booth this week at AAPEX in Las Vegas. The Gates PIC GaugeBelt Wear App can be downloaded for free from GatesBeltWear.com, Google
Play
, or the Apple App Store.
