Garage Gurus Training Network Adds ASE Test Preparation, Evening Workshops, Other Enhancements For 2016

New courses, additional training centers and technician rewards will lead the next phase of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ "Tech First" initiative.

Garage Gurus, Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ comprehensive technical education platform for motor vehicle service professionals, will offer an expanded curriculum, additional training center locations, attractive technician incentives and several other program enhancements beginning in January 2016. Garage Gurus is the central element of Motorparts’ innovative, broad-reaching “Tech First” initiative designed to offer comprehensive, accessible technical education and related support to the professionals who diagnose and repair today’s vehicles. Federal-Mogul Motorparts is a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp.

The Garage Gurus network of training centers will expand to 12 locations in early 2016 with grand openings in the Boston, Detroit and Houston markets. The network’s first nine locations – in Atlanta; Baltimore; the Bronx, New York; Dallas/Fort Worth; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Skokie, Illinois; St. Louis; and Van Nuys and Rancho Dominguez, California – already have provided training and related support to hundreds of industry professionals.

In addition to new training centers, Garage Gurus will introduce several new courses, including test preparation courses for the ASE A4 Automotive Steering and Suspension and A5 Brakes certification exams. Led by ASE-certified Gurus, each course will review all topics included in the corresponding ASE exam, as well as test procedures, guidelines and sample questions.

Also new to the curriculum are the following four-hour evening workshops available through any Garage Gurus training center:

  • Analyzing Today’s Ignition Systems (IGN.303.1.WS)
  • How to Use Your Lab Scope (IGN.305.1.WS)
  • Understanding Fuel Trims (IGN.304.1.WS)
  • Advanced Brake System Service Tips and Techniques (BRK.206.1.WS)
  • ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Testing (BRK.207.1.WS)
  • Diagnosing Modern Chassis Systems (SS.105.1.WS)
  • Calibrating Steering Angle Sensors (SS.106.1.WS)
  • Fel-Pro Engine Misfire Diagnostics (ENG.404.1.WS)

“Garage Gurus on-site and on-demand training are now within easy reach of tens of thousands of technicians, service writers, repair shop owners and parts professionals,” said Brent Berman, director, training and consumer experience, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “We are now scaling up our curriculum and introducing convenient evening courses to help maximize the positive impact of each of our state-of-the-art training centers.”

In addition to on-site training at each Garage Gurus center, Federal-Mogul Motorparts offers “lunch and learn” field training sessions and other on-demand technical education through dozens of “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans. The company will continue to expand the fleet of vans throughout the U.S. and Canada in early 2016, according to Berman.

The company also has introduced a “Garage Rewards” technician inventive program offering hats, T-shirts, hoodies and other gear to professionals who participate in Garage Gurus training and/or use Motorparts products. Technicians can earn 250 Garage Rewards points by signing up for their free membership at FMmotorparts.com or FMgaragegurus.com.
