RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. The Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium Scholarship (GAAS) Fund announced today the five recipients of $1,000 Standard Motor Products Scholarships.
Recipients for the 2014 scholarships are:
* Audrey Corrigan of North Canton, Ohio
* Joaquin Cuevas of Lockport, Ill.
* Stephanie Doun of Baltimore, Md.
* Daniel Egge of Bellflower, Calif.
* Leslie Matsumoto of Kalaheo, Hawaii
“The applicants for 2014 were outstanding and we are pleased to make this investment in our future and the industry’s future,” said Larry Sills, CEO and chairman, Standard Motor Products.
“The goal of the GAAS scholarship fund is to bring new talent into the automotive aftermarket,” said Pete Kornafel, chairman of the GAAS scholarship committee. “We sincerely thank Standard Motor Products for its generous donations that allow us to continue to work toward this goal.”
The Standard Motor Products Scholarships were established in 2010 with a pledge by the company of $25,000 to fund five $1,000 GAAS scholarships each year for five years for students planning careers as automotive technicians.
