Federated Auto Parts Race Teams Go Pink In October

Dirt car and ARCA teams will feature special pink paint schemes in recognition of breast cancer awareness month.

STAUNTON, Va. – The Federated Auto Parts racing team will go pink in October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Federated ARCA car, driven by Tom Hessert, will sport a pink paint scheme for its Oct. 14 race, while the Federated dirt track car, driven by Federated spokesperson Kenny Schrader, will also have a special pink design for its races in October.

“We had such a great response for our pink cars last year that we decided to do it again for 2012,” said Schrader, who owns and operates both teams. “We have lost too many friends to breast cancer and we feel it is our responsibility to raise awareness and help in the fight against this disease. Our cars will definitely standout and hopefully will help make a difference. We especially want to thank Federated for all of its support in this endeavor. They continue to be great partners and more importantly, great friends.”

Schrader will sport a Breast Cancer Awareness scheme on his No. 9 Federated dirt modified car, which he will race throughout the Midwest during the month of October. Hessert will drive his No. 52 Federated Pink Chevrolet in the ARCA Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care on Oct. 14 at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds.

“We are honored to be partnering with the Schrader Racing teams for this very worthwhile cause,” said J.R. Bishop, director of racing and event marketing for Federated Auto Parts. “Kenny has done a remarkable job in raising money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer and it is our privilege to once again support him and his race teams in their efforts.”

The Schrader Racing team also is racing this month in memory of Schrader family friend Lisa Meloni, who passed away from breast cancer in September 2011. To keep her memory alive, and to help others fighting the battle, the Schrader Racing team is selling PINK ribbons on the deck lid of the No. 52 ARCA car and hopes to donate at least $1,000 to the Breast Health Center at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast Hospital, where Lisa was treated in Concord, N.C. To help reach its goal, they are asking for a donation of $14.70 per ribbon, and will write the name of a loved one on each ribbon "purchased."
