Dave Barbeau Joins Marx Group Advisors as Executive VP

The aftermarket veteran and former Delphi executive brings more than 30 years of automotive aftermarket management and financial expertise to the firm's work in mergers and acquisitions.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Marx Group Advisors (MGA) has announced that Dave Barbeau has joined the firm as executive vice president. Barbeau brings more than 30 years of experience in the aftermarket to MGA. Most recently, Barbeau was the vice president of the global independent aftermarket business unit for Delphi Corp., where he was responsible for the growth and operating performance of the business unit globally.
 
“Dave Barbeau is a highly respected aftermarket leader that will bring a wealth of management and financial expertise to bear upon our work in mergers and acquisitions,” said Tom Marx, president and co-founder of Marx Group Advisors. “Dave’s strong background in strategy development and execution will be valuable in assisting buyers and sellers.”
 
Barbeau’s automotive career started in 1976 at Monroe Auto Equipment Co. in Monroe, Mich., where he was vice president of finance. In 1987, Barbeau became president of ARA Automotive Group in Grand Prairie, Texas, and became senior vice president, operations, for APS Inc. in 1990, a Houston-based national distributor of automotive replacement parts. Before joining Delphi in 2002, Barbeau served as executive vice president of Auto Parts Express LLC, an automotive parts and equipment distribution company that he co-founded in 1999.
 
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Barbeau earned a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s of business administration degree in finance and accounting from Saint Louis University.

He’s a member of the Automotive Sales Council, and in 2008 he was elected to the board of directors of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA).
 
Marx Group Advisors (MGA) was formed in early 2007 with the mission of providing full service M&A support for middle-market enterprises. MGA is led by Marx and co-founder Paul Cooperstein. MGA assists automotive, commercial vehicles and heavy duty aftermarket companies with strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, as well as assisting them with capital formation for private equity placements.
