According to the NADA, 2019 marked the fifth straight year light-vehicle sales were over 17 million units, as sales for the year were 17.1 million. What kinds of vehicles were sold? 40.8% were crossover vehicles, 17.9% were pickups, and 8.1% were SUVs. Cars (of all sizes) made up 27.9%.  By powertrain, 92.8% were powered by gasoline.
