Cummins, Detroit Diesel Certify Universal Lubricants’ ECO ULTRA Oil For Natural Gas Engines

Cummins has certified that ECO ULTRA CNG/LNG conforms to CES 20074 engine oil specifications and is approved for use in the company's powerful, high-speed natural gas engines. Detroit Diesel has approved ECO ULTRA CNG/LNG for use in its Series 50G and 60G engines and certified that it meets DDC Power Guard Oil Specification 93K216.

WICHITA, Kan. – Universal Lubricants has announced that Cummins Inc. and Detroit Diesel Corp. have both certified that ECO ULTRA CNG/LNG Engine Oil, SAE Grade 15W-40, conforms to the performance specifications required for their natural gas engines. These engines, which reduce emissions, improve fuel economy and decrease maintenance costs, require special, high-performance engine oils.

ECO ULTRA CNG/LNG consists of up to 83 percent re-refined material and is one of the first of its kind on the market. Universal Lubricants relies on used oil as feedstock to its re-refinery that produces top quality Group II sustainable base oil while meeting original equipment manufacturers’ (OEM) specifications and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) requirements.

Companies that choose ECO ULTRA CNG/LNG can completely eliminate new petroleum products from circulation in their CNG fleets, according to the company.

"As a company dedicated to both high-performance and environmental responsibility, we are pleased to provide a product that enhances the performance of CNG and LNG powered fleets," said John Wesley, Universal Lubricants’ CEO. "To be recognized as meeting the extremely high standards set by these leaders in the natural gas market is an important milestone for our company."

Each year, the U.S. produces approximately 1.1 billion gallons of used engine oils, only 10 percent of which is re-refined perpetuating the need to import foreign oil. The rest is either burned as an industrial fuel or disposed of improperly, both of which are damaging to the environment. Dedicated to reversing this trend, Universal Lubricants is one of only a few American manufacturers and distributors that collects, re-refines, blends and redistributes its own motor oil, including the ECO ULTRA line of high performance lubricants. With its proprietary Closed Loop Process, the company never loses guardianship within the chain, creating an infinitely repeatable, sustainable cycle. ECO ULTRA is now the motor oil of choice for a growing number of fleet operators, auto dealerships and service centers across the country.
