Malcolm Johnson, CEO of Colorbond Paint has announced the winner of the 2016 Cleo Award as Carlos Medrano.
The Cleo Award is presented annually to an individual who has shown excellence in utilizing ColorBond finishes to restore the interior of any vehicle, including trucks, muscle cars, tuners, hot rods, antiques and classics.
Medrano restored the interior of his wide body 2013 Honda Civic SI, one of three such vehicles in the U.S., with ColorBond products. He will be awarded a $500 check and the crystal trophy at the SEMA Show at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3 in the ColorBond booth No. 23978 in the Main Hall.
The vehicle will be on display throughout the SEMA show in the Colorbond booth.
Last year’s winner was Jay Van Houton, who restored the interior of a 1953 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud.
The Cleo award was established in 2013 to honor Leo Kagan, a SEMA Hall of Famer who was responsible for moving the SEMA show from Anaheim, California, to its current location in Las Vegas in 1977. Kagan will turn 100 while working in the booth at this year’s SEMA Show. He also will be celebrating his 51st year as a SEMA member. Colorbond invites attendees to stop by the booth and share in a birthday cake that will be offered after the presentation of the Cleo Award.
