National Performance Acquires Speed Warehouse of Hayward, Calif.

Speed Warehouse has been in business for more than 60 years. The business was started by Jerry Light in 1949, selling high-performance parts after World War II. Speed operates out of three distribution points in Hayward, San Jose and Tustin, Calif.

Drago Supply Acquired by Genuine Parts Co.

Genuine Parts Co.’s Industrial Parts Group, Motion Industries, has acquired Drago Supply Co., a regional industrial supplies distributor headquartered in Port Arthur, Texas. Drago Supply was founded in 1931 and has eight locations in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. The company expects the purchase to generate annual revenues of approximately $75 million. This is the second acquisition GPC has made in recent weeks.

10 Napa Auto Parts Stores Sold

The sale to a Rockford, Ill., supplier of 10 NAPA stores, including two in Springfield, Ill., will end an 87-year, three-generation run in the wholesale automotive parts business for Quincy Automotive Supply Co. Company president J. Garth "Butch" Elzea III announced Monday the sale of NAPA operations to Motor Parts & Equipment Corp. (MPEC) of Rockford would be completed April 1, and that there should be few changes for customers or the 100 employees of Quincy Automotive.

Uni-Select Inc. to Purchase Assets of Consumer Auto Parts

Uni-Select Inc. has entered into an agreement for the purchase of the assets of Consumer Auto Parts, Inc., an automotive replacement parts distributor and operator of 23 points-of-sale and one distribution center in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. The sale is expected to be completed on Aug. 31 and is subject to closing conditions. The acquired business will become part of the northeast division of Automotive Group USA. This development should add annual sales of $41 million, 40 percent of which is expected to come from retail and walk-in trade.

Atech Motorsports Distribution Center

Atech Motorsports, a business-to-business performance distributor, recently opened its newest distribution center in Atlanta, GA. The new Atlanta location will allow Atech Motorsports customers in the southeastern United States to get their orders more quickly. In many cases, distributors will get their parts and accessories in just one to two days using Atech’s free ground service.

Autopart International Acquired by Advance

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. announced that it has acquired all the stock of Sharon, MA-based Autopart International, Inc. (AI) in an all-cash transaction that closed on Thursday. Highly successful AI provides replacement automotive parts to the growing Do-It-For-Me commercial market, as well as to warehouse distributors and jobbers. In 2004, AI generated annual sales of approximately $90 million. Advance expects this transaction to be immaterial to its financial performance for the third and fourth quarters of 2005.
