BASF Facility Exceeds One Million Hours of Safe Operation

BASF’s Coatings Technical Support Center in Whitehouse, Ohio, recently marked more than one million hours of operation without a recordable injury or work-related illness. According to Ken Perry, technical director, BASF Automotive Refinish, one million hours represents more than three and a half years of continuous operation at the site, which employs approximately 140 people.

The California Autobody Association and Mentors @ Work Join Forces To Create Apprenticeship Program

The California Autobody Association (CAA) and Mentors @ Work have created a partnership to address one of the industry’s most pressing needs — the development of tomorrow’s workforce. The California Autobody Association is a non-profit collision repair association that has been in business since 1966 and includes more than 1,000 dedicated businesses. Mentors At Work, founded in 2001, provides automotive repair and collision shops with a full plan for shop implementation of an on-line apprenticeship program, complete with attracting, training, retaining and tracking components.

Mitchell International Helps Provide Collision Repair Training to Underprivileged Youth

Mitchell International announced the enrollment of a second class of Junior Automotive Technicians in the Collision Repair Training Course program, following a successful pilot. The program is offered, free of charge, to homeless, or otherwise disadvantaged, youth to learn both applied academic and practical workplace skills based on a modified version of the ASE Program Certification Standards curriculum.

LKQ Announces 2005 First Quarter Net Income Results

LKQ Corp. has reported revenues of $133.8 million, net income of $8.4 million and diluted earnings per share of 37 cents for its first quarter of 2005, which ended on March 31.

Earl Scheib Withdraws from AMEX Listing, Terminates SEC Reporting

Earl Scheib has been granted permission by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to withdraw its capital stock from trading on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). The company filed a certification and notice on Form 15 with the SEC in order to terminate registration of its capital stock and suspend the filing of current and periodic reports. April 6 was the last day on which the Capital Stock traded on the AMEX.

Collision Industry Foundation Names Board of Trustees

What began as a single philanthropic gesture has grown into a full-fledged charitable organization backed by the collision industry. The Collision Industry Foundation is closely aligned with the National Auto Body Council, in that the charitable activities it chooses to undertake are those that improve the image of the Collision Repair Industry.
