ArvinMeritor President and COO Terry O’Rourke Resigns

ArvinMeritor announced late yesterday that Terry O’Rourke is resigning from his position as president and COO, to pursue opportunities outside of the company. O’Rourke is resigning from the board of directors as well. The COO position will be eliminated. O’Rourke joined ArvinMeritor as president of the company’s Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group in March 1999, after serving as group vice president and president of Lear Corp.’s Ford Division.

BorgWarner Names Vice President, Engine Research and Development

BorgWarner has appointed Olaf Weber to the newly created position of vice president, engine research and development. In this new role, Weber will be responsible for identifying technological and market trends in engines, and developing new systems that will enable BorgWarner to leverage the company’s capabilities and expand into new areas of the engine business.

Coyle Named to Fuel Systems Job at TI Automotive

Patrick Coyle has been named North American regional director for TI Automotive’s Global Fuel Systems Division. Previously, Coyle was responsible for global fuel-system quality. TI Automotive is a tier one supplier of integrated fuel-storage and delivery systems.

Lund International Announces Executive Appointment

Automotive accessories manufacturer Lund International has named Edmund Schwartz COO and CFO for the company, effective immediately. Schwartz previously served as CFO for Lund International from September 1999 to November 2001. He has also served as CFO of a large international public company and a leading consumer goods manufacturer.

Larry Samuelson Named President of U.S. Automotive Parts Group

Larry Prince, chairman and CEO of Genuine Parts Company (GPC), announced yesterday that Larry Samuelson has been named president of the U.S. Automotive Parts Group, effective immediately. The position was previously held by Bob McKenna, who departed in 2003. GPC CEO Tom Gallagher held the position in the interim. Samuelson is currently president and CEO of NAPA Canada/UAP Inc. He will continue to hold these responsibilities in addition to his new ones with the U.S. Automotive Parts Group.

UAP Announces Senior Executive Appointments

Larry Samuelson, CEO of UAP Inc., has announced four senior executive appointments. Robert Hattem has accepted the position of president and COO of UAP Inc. Terrence LeBlanc has been named executive vice president of the auto parts division. Pierre Vocelle has accepted the position of regional vice president of auto parts for Quebec and Scott LeProhon has been appointed senior vice president of special marketing projects.

Brake Parts Inc. has promoted Mike Zissman to the position of vice president of product development for the Under Vehicle Group. Zissman has more than 30 years of experience working in the automotive aftermarket industry and almost 19 years with Brake Parts Inc. He has held numerous positions in sales, marketing and product development, including vice president of the McQuay Norris/Aimco sales group, director of data administration and senior director of product development.

Former National Dragster Editor-in-Chief Passes Away

Former Editor-In-Chief of National DRAGSTER, John Raffa, lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Jan. 20. Raffa had an extensive background in drag racing publishing, including editor/publisher of Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine and managing editor of Car Craft magazine. Raffa also worked as director of communications for Norwalk Raceway Park and as a guest columnist for Drag Racing Online.

TI Automotive Names Ernst Kuhlen to New Position

TI Automotive has named Ernst Kuhlen director of global fuel delivery pumps and modules. Kuhlen will be responsible for development and implementation of the company’s global pump-and-module product strategy. Based in Neuss, Germany, he will report to Manouchehr Kambakhsh, vice president for global engineering. Previously engineering director for pumps at Pierburg AG in Neuss, Kuhlen joined TI Automotive as part of the company’s recent purchase of Pierburg’s pump business.

Legendary Engine Builder Pat Musi Joins Edelbrock

Pat Musi, a championship auto racer and 30-year performance specialist, has been hired as a product development consultant for aftermarket performance product manufacturer Edelbrock Corp. In this new role, Musi will focus on nitrous systems, as well as racing cylinder heads and high-horsepower EFI products. Described as “one of the most intimidating and influential doorslammer racers in the country,” Musi opened Pat Musi Performance in Carteret, NJ, in 1969 at the age of 18. That same year he started his racing career, which includes several Pro Street world championships (including four straight from 2000-2003) and records.

Oxford Automotive, a $1 billion Tier 1 supplier of specialized welded metal assemblies, has announced two key management changes. Jeffrey Wilson, current president of Oxford Automotive’s North American division, has been appointed president and COO of Oxford Automotive Inc. Patrick Flynn, current vice president of strategic planning, has been named CFO, replacing Martin Welch who resigned last week to pursue other interests.
