LANSDALE, Pa. — Thirteen hardy individuals took the challenge at MACS 30th Anniversary Convention and Trade Show in an attempt to become the CARQUEST Auto Parts/MACS mobile A/C and heat transfer technician of the year. On Wednesday, Jan. 20 competitors were put to the test, answering a wide variety of questions posed by CARQUEST Auto Parts vendors.
Tom Massey of Auto Air and More in Las Vegas, Nev., was the ultimate champion and winner of $1,500 dollars and a SPX Robinair DiscovR refrigerant identifier, valued at $940.95.
The second place winner was Kit Wickenkamp of DC Electrical in Clarkston, Wash., winner of $1,000 dollars and a TIF IR-1 infrared leak detector, valued at $517.95.
Placing third was Martin Duvic of Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge, La., winning $625 dollars.
CARQUEST and MACS said they would like to thank Compressorworks, Delphi, DENSO, DuPont, Four Seasons, Sanden, Santech, SPX Robinair, Tracer Products and Supercool for their help in putting the competition together and providing prizes.
