Borruso Steps Down As Head of Hella North America

Joseph Borruso has announced he will retire this month from his post as president and CEO of Hella North America. Borruso will continue to serve in an advisory position reporting to the German-based automotive supplier's board of management and also will assume a non-operational position as president emeritus of Hella's North American operations.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Joseph Borruso has announced he will retire this month from his post as president and CEO of Hella North America.

Borruso will continue to serve in an advisory position reporting to the German-based automotive supplier’s board of management and also will assume a non-operational position as president emeritus of Hella’s North American operations.

Borruso began his career in the automotive industry in 1963 as a project engineer for the automotive lighting division of ABEX, where he advanced to vice president of sales and marketing. In 1977, he joined Wagner Brake and Lighting Products as vice president for OEM and heavy-duty aftermarket sales.

In 1983, he moved to Bosch where he went on to hold a series of key senior management positions in sales and marketing both in Germany and North America. From 1996 until 1999, he was executive vice president for Bosch’s North American automotive sales group and was a member of Bosch Automotive Division’s executive management team.

Prior to joining Hella in 1999, he was executive vice president of North American sales for the Bosch Automotive Group headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Fluent in both Italian and German, Borruso has a mechanical engineering and business background, having attended the City University of New York and Stanford University. He also served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
