CHANTILLY, Va. The Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Center for Remanufacturing, Resource Recovery will be presenting four training workshops during the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association’s (APRA) International BIG R Show in Las Vegas, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2010.
On Saturday, Oct. 30 from 1:304 p.m., RIT will present “Calculating the True Cost of Cleaning.” This presentation will discuss the costs associated with cleaning and the methods used to calculate the true benefits to the organization. Automotive parts remanufacturing is becoming more competitive every year, and progressive remanufacturers are always looking for new ways to save money through process improvements, RIT says. Surface cleaning is a remanufacturing process where companies can typically find improvement opportunities due to the ever increasing number of new chemistries and technologies available. This presentation will help companies determine which options are most cost effective for their operations.
On Sunday, October 31 from 2-3:15 p.m., RIT will discuss “Opportunities for Remanufacturers.” This presentation will cover a variety of topics, related to the automotive/truck parts remanufacturing industry, which will challenge the attendees to refocus on emerging opportunities, rather than existing capabilities and customers. Topics such as the momentum building around environmental sustainability will be discussed as it relates to material reuse, increased governmental awareness of remanufacturing, the turmoil in the automotive industry, and current emphasis on “green economy” jobs.
“Reducing Energy Consumption,” on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. will be an overview of the various tactics and strategies that companies have used to reduce energy-related costs. This session is also suitable for all people in manufacturing operations to attend.
“Economic Downturn Improvement,” will be offered on Monday, Nov. 1 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. This seminar will present an overview of several priority initiatives that companies should consider to ensure their organizations remain healthy and stable. Some topics that will be touched on are strategic planning, competitive benchmarking, lean remanufacturing and performance measures.
