LOS ANGELES — Barry Meguiar, president and CEO of Meguiar’s, Inc., a manufacturer of automotive appearance products, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Petersen Automotive Museum’s Automotive Icon Award.
The award, presented at the Museum’s annual Cars & Stars Gala, was created by the Museum to recognize the distinguished careers of the most prominent members of the automotive industry and car hobby. Meguiar was selected as the initial honoree because of his lifelong influence on and passion for the car hobby, which spans the entire automotive world from car manufacturers to prominent “car guy” events, and for his sponsorship of thousands of car shows worldwide.
With his Car Crazy television show that airs Thursday nights on the SPEED Channel, Meguiar interviews individuals from within the automotive industry and throughout the car hobby who are “Certifiably Car Crazy.” Combined with the annual Meguiar’s Award Gala at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., which honors the Person of the Year for the Car Hobby, Meguiar uses his Car Crazy showcase to unite car lovers worldwide.
Meguiar explains that he is “blessed with a business that can fund his passion for great cars, old and new, and the people who love them.”
Chosen as the “Best of Show” and 21 out of 24 “Best of Class” winners at the 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Meguiar’s provides highly specialized products for every automotive surface, including paint, wheels, tires and interiors.
