SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, has launched its 2004 SEMA Show registration online at www.SEMAshow.com. With its vast array of unique automotive vehicles, huge number of new product introductions and participation by the world’s carmakers, the 2004 SEMA Show will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 5, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Goodyear Releases 2003 Financial Results

Despite record sales of $15.1 billion and some bottom-line improvements, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. reported a full-year 2003 net loss of $802.1 million or $4.58 per share. The 2003 net loss also included a -$56.2 million restatement for the year, part of a total of $164.8 million in additional net losses over the 1997-2003 period.

Timken to Increase High Speed Steel Prices

Timken Latrobe Steel, a subsidiary of The Timken Co., has announced it will increase prices by 5 percent on high speed steel products. The price increase will take effect with new orders received beginning June 1. The company said raw material surcharges will remain in effect.

Pending investment of the net proceeds in capital assets, the company has applied the funds to reduce the amount currently outstanding under its revolving credit facility.

Uni-Select Inc. Net Profits Increased by 20.8 Percent in the First Quarter of 2004

Uni-Select Inc. recorded an increase in net profits of 20.8 percent this year to attain U.S. $4.14 million or $0.23 per share compared to $3.43 million or $0.19 per share for the corresponding period a last year. Sales improved to $175.8 million in the first quarter of 2004, an increase of 6.2 percent versus sales of $165.6 million in the first quarter of 2003.

Transportation Secretary Mineta Launches Traffic Safety Partnership with NASCAR

U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta and NASCAR President Mike Helton have joined forces in launching a new traffic safety alliance with the racing league aimed at saving the lives of everyday drivers on America’s roads. Secretary Mineta made the announcement while in Richmond, Va., appearing as the grand marshall of NASCAR’s running of the Chevy American Revolution 400.
