AUSTIN and SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Activant Solutions has been named exclusive primary provider of store systems and electronic catalogs to Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance.

With 56 independent distributor members serving more than 4,200 auto parts stores and 2,200 vehicle service centers, the Alliance is among the leading users of Activant’s distribution management systems including the Paperless Warehouse business management software, PartExpert suite of eCatalog services and AConneX eCommerce marketplace. According to Activant, Alliance shareholders also have been among the first distributors to utilize Activant’s data warehouse solution.

The agreement between Activant and the Alliance is designed to help Alliance shareholders compete in the marketplace through adoption of Activant’s new Cover-to-Cover graphical eCatalog module and next generation store system for J-CON users. The Alliance is planning for immediate installation of Activant Cover-to-Cover at each counter position within every company-owned store. The group has committed to install 1,000 next generation store systems as the product becomes available. The new store system, currently under development, is based on Activant Eagle technology.

Activant said it plans to support the rich set of J-CON central services on A-DIS, an aftermarket leading warehouse distribution solution, within the next generation store system. In addition, Activant will proceed with several projects to “open up” A-DIS by providing improved access to data for Alliance A-DIS users.

“We selected Activant as our primary technology provider for several reasons. We’re convinced their next generation store system – which we’ve seen in action – will be the right solution for our business. And we believe their software provides a valuable competitive advantage in the form of improved customer service capabilities,” said Richard Morgan, president and CEO of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance. “Activant already has the infrastructure necessary to support our shareholders, and offers the full breadth of IT services – including the industry’s premier electronic catalog.”

Pervez Qureshi, COO of Activant, said the agreement is a significant step forward in the continuing transformation of the company’s automotive business. Activant’s increased investments in product development, data services and customer support have helped establish stronger relationships with a number of leading Alliance members and manufacturers that service the Alliance, he noted.

“We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to play a more important role in the long-term growth of the Alliance,” Qureshi said. “This strategic relationship is a key ‘win’ for both our teams, who have worked very hard to bring a new level of value to the aftermarket through new and better products and services.”
