RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. Curtis Draper, who joined the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) on Oct. 28 as vice president, industry analysis, programs and member services, has assumed the additional role of a staff leadership position for the Association’s Overseas Automotive Council (OAC).
In his OAC role, Draper will direct the council’s activities and join with the OAC Board of Directors in planning the long-term strategies for the group.
In addition to his OAC responsibilities, Draper also will lead AASA’s industry analysis team and provide leadership in AASA’s China Aftermarket Forum and the Filter Manufacturers Council (FMC).
AASA Vice President Dan Pike, who has served as interim staff director of the OAC since 2011, will assist Draper during the transition and will resume his primary responsibilities as general manager of the MEMA Financial Services Group Inc.
Prior to joining AASA, Draper was managing adviser of Draper Enterprises LLC, which provides guidance and research on targeted acquisitions for international private equity groups and supports strategic projects for Schwartz Advisors, an M&A advisory services company. He also serves on the boards of Hopkins Manufacturing and Fundivity Inc.
Draper’s previous industry experience includes serving as senior vice president, strategic marketing, UCI-FRAM Group, and vice president, sales and marketing, UCI. His experience also included senior management positions at Howmet Corp., now Alcoa Power and Propulsion, a global supplier of advanced technology turbine components serving the aerospace and power generation industries.
Draper earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with an economics minor from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas. He also completed the “Finance for Non-Financial Managers” executive program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, Pa.
