AAMCO Breaks Ground At AAMCO University Training Center

The center, 30 miles southwest of Atlanta, is scheduled to open in January 2015.

AAMCO President and CEO Brett Ponton was on site for the groundbreaking on Aug. 5.

"We are thrilled to officially begin development on AAMCO University," said Ponton. "The creation of the new training facility supports our business model to deliver the best possible customer experience through our highly trained team of experts."

The center, 30 miles southwest of Atlanta, is scheduled to open in January 2015. It will provide AAMCO technicians, managers and franchisees with service training through a best-in-class curriculum within its high-tech training facility and repair center. According to AAMCO, the school will train employees to be in a position to continually deliver quality service, and will provide guidance to a successful career path at AAMCO.

"Another great benefit of AAMCO University is that it offers prospective AAMCO franchisees a first look at the operation and the company’s commitment to best practices from an owner’s view," said Mike Ganjei, an AAMCO franchise owner and president of the National AAMCO Dealers Association.

The educational facility will offer both lecture and hands-on technical instruction for up to 60 people at a time with a theater-style classroom and a simulated repair shop showcasing a real-life learning environment. A call center will field technical and sales questions.

The training facility is next door to AAMCO partner Global Powertrain Systems and its factory, which houses the production of remanufactured transmissions.

The Purge Flushing & Filling the Coolant

If there’s any doubt to the importance of a coolant flush, let there be none. Simply put, engine coolant is a chemical. As it breaks down, it becomes increasingly acidic, leading to eventual corrosion on all the metal, plastic and rubber parts in the system.

The most misleading part is the color. Just because it may still look new doesn’t mean it acts that way. By the time coolant loses its nice hue and turns brown and rusty, it’s already years past what the service interval should have been, and it’s doing some serious damage to the cooling system. This is why it’s important to flush coolant at regular intervals.
