Gates Corp. Announces ‘Tools for Schools’ Automotive Educator Program

Teachers can receive free training, materials and online resources to help advance automotive technical education.

DENVER, Colo. – Gates Corp. has announced the launch of “Tools for Schools,” a program designed to aid automotive school educators with free training, materials and tools. Online training modules, interactive webinars and videos help instructors educate students on everything from belt wear diagnostics to preventative maintenance. In addition, automotive teachers earn points toward specialized tools for making repairs faster, more accurate and easier to teach.

“Automotive technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate,” said Dave Miller, VP of marketing at Gates. "We understand how difficult it can be for automotive school educators to keep themselves and their students current. We’re offering ‘Tools for Schools’ as a way to help bridge the information gap. The Web-based program contains everything an automotive technical school needs to stay ahead of cooling system technologies, hydraulic products and service trends.”

Although the program is primarily designed to provide automotive teachers educational tools for the classroom, students also benefit from access to presentations, technical tips, videos, blogs and articles that enhance their automotive technical knowledge. Student participation in online Gates certification courses and tests at the Gates Performance Center helps schools earn custom tools,
including a serpentine ratcheting wrench set, tensioner pin set, DriveAlign laser tool and refractometer.

If you are an automotive educator, you can learn more about "Tools for Schools" at www.gates.com/autotraining. Click on the “Training Information” tab. Automotive educators who register for the program receive a free “Welcome Kit” with training CDs, posters and more.
