Manager, Technology Standards – AAIA

The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) is seeking a Manager of Technology Standards. The position reports to the Vice President of Technology Standards.

Summary of Responsibilities
The Manager of Technology Standards  is responsible for the documentation, implementation and management of the technical industry standards and programs of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association. The position requires a unique combination of project management, business analyst and technical documentation skills. Under the supervision of the vice president for technology standards, the Manager of Technology Standards works closely with the volunteer committee members to reach consensus on a variety of technical standards and best practices. Success is measured by regularly advancing the work of the committee and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of their objectives.

Duties and Activities
• Documentation and prioritization of volunteer committee objectives and tasks
• Analysis of the technical requirements recommended by the Standards Committee
• Management of technical documentation and versioning
• Schedule, facilitate and participate in working group and task force meetings as needed to complete industry objectives
• Publication of meeting minutes and other artifacts of committee deliberations
• Ensure the accuracy, consistency and integrity of technical specifications
• Interface with industry volunteers in developing standards and best practices
• Represent the association with the highest level of integrity and honesty
• Continue professional development, seeking the technical and professional training necessary to perform responsibilities at the highest level.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
• Bachelors degree in Information Systems or some related field
• Automotive background and work experience is a plus, but not a requirement
• Experience with project management applications and techniques
• Database management skills and application experience using SQL, Microsoft Access or other database technologies
• Proficiency with common Microsoft Office applications
• Familiarity with Web content management and development tools
• Attention to detail and a proven record of success in technical tasks
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

• The ability to speak extemporaneously as well as from prepared remarks

• Travel as needed to attend committee meetings and other working sessions

• Dependable attendance, professional behavior and exemplary representation of AAIA standards for behavior and ethics

Work Environment
AAIA is a not-for-profit industry trade association with a professional of staff of 40. The Manager of Technology Standards works alongside other staff resources to deliver results and valuable benefits to the volunteer leaders of the association and the full aftermarket industry membership. Occasional overnight travel out of town may be required to attend industry functions, training seminars and to, otherwise, represent AAIA. AAIA is a business casual workplace. However, business attire is required on certain occasions.
