Bosch Icon Wiper Blades Give ‘Storm Chasers’ Safe, Clear Vision as They Study and Venture into Destructive Tornados

"Storm Chasers" returns for its fifth season on Discovery Channel this fall. Meteorologist Reed Trimmer and his Storm Chaser team have driven more than 50,000 miles for the past several years tracking tornados, from the Mexican Border to Canada, and captured more than 200 tornadoes on film, and the team relies on two Dominator vehicles, both equipped with Bosch ICON beam wiper blades.

BROADVIEW, Ill. – Bosch ICON beam wiper blades are making sure the Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” have safe and clear vision when the dedicated team tackles destructive tornados. This group of scientists and filmmakers hunts down, films and studies tornados on Discovery Channel’s popular “Storm Chasers“ program, and the Storm Chaser’s “Dominator” armored SUV is equipped with ICON beam wiper blades to “clear the way” as they tangle with ferocious rain, winds and forces of tornados.

The Dominator utilizes three pairs ICON bracketless beam blades to ensure the team can see where they are going as well as photograph some of nature’s most deadly forces. ICON beam wiper blades feature dual precision-tensioned internal steel springs and no external joints or brackets. ICON’s exclusive tension spring arcing technology provides custom curved left and right side windshield blades that are contoured to the variable curvature of the driver’s side and the passenger’s side of the windshield.

Bosch says the benefit of the left and right blade configuration is improved vision, safety, and overall wiping performance. ICON’s patented blade design features an exclusive asymmetric wind spoiler to create increased down force, and distribute uniform pressure along the entire length of the blade for ultimate all-weather performance, the company adds. The ICON blades’ exclusive fx dual rubber compound wipes cleaner and lasts up to 40 percent longer than other premium wiper blades, according to Bosch.

“ICON wiper blades are the toughest, most capable wiper blades available and handle the most extreme weather conditions. Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers program, with the incredible Dominator armored SUV, puts these blades to the ultimate extreme weather test,” said Makoto Takatsuka, product manager, Wiper Blades for Bosch. “This is an exciting program showing dedicated scientists gaining valuable insight into the workings of devastating phenomena, as they venture into the very storm itself. We are proud of ICON’s affiliation with Storm Chasers, and we are counting on this exposure to help extend the awareness of ICON wiper blades and their contributions to driving in the wildest weather imaginable. The same Bosch ICON blades used on the Storm Chasers Dominator SUV are available to help motorists in late model cars, light trucks and SUVs drive safely in any weather.”

A dedicated micro site, www.BoschClearTheWay.com, is available to inform motorists about Storm Chasers and ICON beam wiper blades. It features Storm Chaser video web shorts, product information and special offers on ICON wiper blades.
