SMP Introduces New and Improved Cleen Plan Program

The Cleen Plan is a comprehensive fuel injection cleaning program that promotes motorist preventative maintenance with a regular professional cleaning, creating a partnership between the motorist and their professional service technician.

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. – SMP has introduced its new and improved Cleen Plan, a professional fuel system cleaning program. SMP says it has "reenergized" the Cleen Plan program with updated branding and product packaging, enhanced Cleen Fuel System Cleaning Kits and an expanded line of Cleen chemicals.

The Cleen Plan is a comprehensive fuel injection cleaning program that promotes motorist preventative maintenance with a regular professional cleaning, creating a partnership between the motorist and their professional service technician. SMP recommends that motorists use Super Cleen or EZ-Pour Cleen every 5,000 miles and see their service technician yearly for a professional fuel injection cleaning, to ensure their vehicle is running at maximum efficiency. The Cleen Plan is intended to help motorists save at the pump, reduce vehicle emissions, conserve energy and improve engine performance, according to SMP.

“At SMP, we continue to look for ways to strengthen our customers’ position in the aftermarket,” said Mike Fitzgerald, vice president marketing for SMP. “With fuel additive and maintenance aerosol sales reported at over $200 million in each of the last few years and growing by more than 8 percent per year, many stores and repair facilities may still be missing valuable fuel system sales and tune-up opportunities. Our new Cleen Plan will help them take advantage of this expanding market and increase their fuel injector cleaning business.”

The new Ultra Cleen (shop air) and Pro Cleen (aerosol) kits feature a quick-disconnect system, redesigned heavy-duty canister and gauge, enhanced CD user manual, updated coverage and more. These new features further position the Cleen kit as the leading fuel injection cleaning tool for professional technicians, according to SMP.

SMP’s new family of Cleen chemicals features color-coded packaging for easy identification. The Cleen program now includes an advanced, heavy-duty pour-in-the-tank cleaner, fuel tank flush, mass air flow sensor and throttle body/plate aerosols and an air intake system cleaner.

“The Cleen Plan represents the only professional fuel system cleaning program developed by a manufacturer of fuel injectors and SMP is the only full-coverage injector manufacturer to offer fuel injection cleaning solvents,” added Fitzgerald.
