OBITUARY: D.C. Area Aftermarket Veteran Larry Singer Dead at 53

Singer had a long and varied aftermarket career that included running his own manufacturer's rep agency, a jobber store, Mel-Jule Auto Parts (Kensington, Md.) and most recently working as a service manager at Graeves Auto & Appliance (Olney, Md.). He also continued to serve as a Washington, D.C., area rep for Pitt Penn Oil Co.

OLNEY, Md. — Larry Singer, 53, died unexpectedly June 21 at his Olney, Md. Singer had a long and varied aftermarket career that included running his own manufacturer’s rep agency, a jobber store, Mel-Jule Auto Parts (Kensington, Md.) and most recently working as a service manager at Graeves Auto & Appliance (Olney, Md.). He also continued to serve as a Washington, D.C., area rep for Pitt Penn Oil Co.

Singer concluded six years of volunteer service on the Chesapeake Automotive Business Association (CABA) Board of Directors on Nov. 15, 2008. However, "Larry’s generous spirit of support for CABA extended way beyond Board service," remarked CABA CEO Skip Potter. "He has campaigned for decades promoting membership and our annual oyster roast and we are eternally grateful for his time."

Larry is survived by his wife Lynda, two teen children Stephanie and Bryan, his parents Melvin and Frances and siblings Richard and Wendy.
