BETHESDA, Md. The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) announced that Michael Waltrip, owner of Michael Waltrip Racing and past Daytona 500 winner, will be this year’s special guest at the 2009 Aftermarket Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.
Waltrip, sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, will be joining aftermarket executives, legislators and staff of the 111th Congress, at a Congressional Reception on March 11, 67:30 p.m., in the Rayburn House Office Building Foyer. The reception allows attendees the opportunity to meet and have their picture taken with Waltrip.
Waltrip is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 (2001 and 2003), and drives a self-owned No. 55 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Waltrip is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Daytona 500 this year, and is currently seventh in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points standings. Waltrip has five wins, including the prestigious Daytona 500 twice and the sport’s All-Star event, four poles, 39 top-fives, 127 top-10s and 11 wins in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
