The Week in Review (Sept. 11-15, 2006)

By Amy Antenora

Editor, aftermarketNews

The most widely read story this week was the announcement that GPC has launched a new Heavy Vehicle Parts Group. The new unit, based in Atlanta, GA, will supply quality replacement parts for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and trailers, allowing GPC to grab its share of the $15-20 billion replacement parts market.

As with last week as well, the changes taking place at Ford Motor Co. continue to pique readers’ interest. The news of Anne Stevens’ resignation from Ford was one of our most read stories this week.

News of NASCAR’s purchase of CASCAR, Canada’s Top Stock Car Racing Association, also made an impact this week.

Readers were also interested to learn of the latest news from the world of marketing and sales, as evidenced by two popular stories from this week: KYB to Launch "Feeling is Believing" Promotion and Brembo North America Hires Two Rep Agencies for Northeast, Canadian Regions.

Finally, the first of a three-part article series on the importance of building a sense of ownership among all employees, authored by industry consultant Chuck Udell, was among our most widely read stories this week. Part II and Part III of the series will be published in the next few weeks.
