Start Planning for National Car Care Month Now

For the second year, National Car Care Month will be held in April, providing tremendous opportunities to communicate with female consumers. BETHESDA, MD — For the second year, National Car Care Month will be held in April, providing tremendous opportunities to communicate with female consumers. That’s the word from the organizers of the Bluegrass Car Care Clinic in Lexington, Ky. For 15 years, the Professional Master Technician’s Association (PMTA) in Lexington, along with the Kentucky Indiana Automotive Wholesalers Association (KIAWA), have held vehicle check lane events during National Car Care Month (NCCM).

“We have lots of women come through our check lanes and educational booths,” said Carmen Grimm, KIAWA director of administration. “These shops that are committed to their industry and community give women a sense of comfort and trust.”

The April 24th, daylong event is advertised at participating repair facilities and in their newsletters. While radio and print are utilized, the event’s longevity helps keep the car count up; many motorists return annually.

The Bluegrass Car Care Clinic is staffed with volunteers from PMTA shops, as well as students and instructors from local automotive schools. “Student involvement is impressive to the community. It shows that we are encouraging young people to enter our field, and we’re providing mentors for the future of our industry.”
